Nepal Trekking Seasons

Autumn, best trekking season in Nepal

The autumn season starts from mid-September & it ends on last November. These months are known for being Nepal’s peak and the best time to go mountain trekking. During the period, monsoon rains have cleared the dust on sky and the views are frequently magnificent.

The valleys are still green and the weather is gentle so trekking is far more pleasurable at this time then other seasons of year. Actually the autumn season is peak trekking / climbing season in Nepal. Normally September is known as being a peak trekking month, but record of previous recent years the monsoon rains have hung on until mid-September. Similarly December was usually identified as a winter month but the first half of December in recent years has been good for mountain trekking, though the latter half of December is very much cold.

For those trying to plan you might have problems with early September rains. In my opinion if you want to avoid the rain then it’s best to plan a trip to Nepal after second week of September. Similarly if you also want to avoid the possibility of snow jamming trekking trails then it’s best to have done your trek by the middle of December.

Always keep in mind that it’s the weather and it’s a lot unpredictable, particularly in the mountains.
