Indigenous Peoples Trail

This Indigenous Peoples Trail offers you picturesque trekking at comparatively low elevation. The trial has bounded by hilly peaks to the north, Tama Koshi River to the east and the golden Sun Koshi River to the south; this would be a memorable exploration.

During the trial you will have magnificent views of the peaks of the Mount Annapurna, Everest, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Kanchenjunga and Rowaling mountain ranges. And you will also get an opportunity to explore the culturally diverse groups, with Tamang, Sherpa, Newars, Majhis and Thamis. The two major religions of Buddhism and Hinduism will be always present, with their god temples, Monasteries and Stupas all waiting to welcome you in this IP (Indigenous Peoples) trial.

This trip offers you to stay overnight in private homes in traditional villages as a home, far from commercialized visitor routes. Rooms are simple but well mend & families prepare meals to high value. You will live these days as a local and be pleasured as member of these families in a peaceful environment. Trekkers frequently get chance to involve in home activities like, cooking food, attending traditional weddings and watching a local dances etc.


Outline Trekking Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport & transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing tours around Kathmandu Valley and trip arrangements.

Day 3: Kathmandu-Dhunge-Sailung.

Day 4: Trek from Sailung to Rajveer Environs.

Day 5: Kholakharka-Rajveer-Surkey.

Day 6: Trek from Surkey to Doramba through Tinghare.

Day 7: Trek from Doramba to Galba and then further trek to Khandadevi.

Day 8: Trek from Khandadevi to Hiledevi/Dongme.

Day 9: Trek from Hiledevi to Lubughat through Sunapati.

Day 10: Trek from Lubughat to Nepalthowk and further drive to Kathmandu.

Day 11: Final Departure to International airport.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport & transfer to the hotel.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport you will transfer to the hotel by our airport representative. After your freshness we will have talk about your trekking plan in the hotel or our office. You will meet your guide also. You can ask your question about the trek. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing tours around Kathmandu Valley and trip arrangements.

After your breakfast we will start sightseeing tour with our excellent tour guide. Including Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, Monkey Temple(Swyambhunath Stupa), Kathmandu Durbar Squre, Patan Durbar Squre etc. In the tour you have to chances to learn historical, cultural and traditional background of Nepal. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Kathmandu-Dhunge-Sailung.

After having breakfast we start our trip to Sailung by local bus from Kathmandu to Mudhe and further to Dhunge Village. After around 90 min of walking from Dhunge we will reach Sailung hilltop. There is a newly established Lodge named Khola Kharka Community Lodge, stay overnight there.

Day 4: Trek from Sailung to Rajveer Environs.

Sailung offers splendid views of the Annapurna, Manalsu, Everest, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorje-Lhakpa, Rowaling and Kanchenjunga mountain ranges. We will reach at Rajveer Environs for overnight.

Day 5: Kholakharka-Rajveer-Surkey.

Today’s trip starts by descending to Sailung Forest for Surkey Village where you will be invited to accept a blessing from Lamas at Rajveer Monastery. Along the route you will pass through a Sherpa village and a Tamang village, each with their own Buddhist Gompas. Stay overnight at home stay.

Day 6: Trek from Surkey to Doramba through Tinghare.

After having breakfast we continue our trek getting experience the Thami cultural programme at Tinghare village before Deurali. Stay overnight at Doramba Valley.

Day 7: Trek from Doramba to Galba and then further trek to Khandadevi.

After having breakfast we leave the Doramba valley, the route ascends to the holy Hindu temple of Agleshwari Danda, where we will be satisfied with stunning views of the Himalayas and the continuing Mahabharat hills below. Then go down passing through pine forests and emerge at Galpa Bazaar. After reaching Khandadevi we will visit Khandadevi Temple and stay overnight at Khandadevi.

Day 8: Trek from Khandadevi to Hiledevi/Dongme.

We wake up early in the morning to see the Sunrise view and then the trail starts through thick and hilly pine forest. You will meet birds and mammals, as well as the enormous rock that is decorated with an image of Shiva, before reaching at Dhongme, an earliest Yolmo settlement. Stay overnight at Dongme.

Day 9: Trek from Hiledevi to Lubughat through Sunapati.

After another magnificent sunrise view, descend to the village of Lubughat on the golden Koshi River. We will be walk along one of the newly modernize eco trails to reach the Sunapati hilltop. In Lubughat we will meet the Majhi people, famous for their fishing skill.

Day 10: Trek from Lubughat to Nepalthowk and further drive to Kathmandu.

After having breakfast we continue our final day trek to Nepalthowk, it takes around 45-minutes walk through the valley to Nepalthowk. From Nepalthowk we can get local bus for the return drive to Kathmandu. In evening Gold Mountain Nepal Treks offer you a farewell dinner in neighboring famous restaurant in Kathmandu. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 11: Final Departure to International airport.

Today we will drive you by private vehicle to International Airport to catch your International flight. We will say good bye with hoping to see you again.

Information of passport and visas

You must to have a valid passport with at least 6 months validity from return date of your trips.  You can easily get visas for Nepal from the Nepalese Consulate in your country or up on arrival in Kathmandu Airport (Tribhuwan International Airport). Nepalese visas cost is USD 25 for 15 days & USD 40 for 30 days. 

Information of money & credit card

In Nepal you have to pay 3.5 % credit card commission as per Nepal’s Bank rules, on your payable amount of the total cost.  So, please be positive that you bring some cash in USD to pay us. The same, for your extra expenses as well which are not included in our cost. We would like to request you not to change your money in the Airport expect your emergency case. You get the exchange rate is very low there. Our office well provides you the facility to exchange your money. Or, you can change from Money Changers or bank as well. Master Card, Visa Card, Paypal also accepted in major shopping center and in most of the tourist class hotels. 

Bring required personal/official document

We want to suggest that to bring some of the required documents like valid passport, 4 extra passport sized photographs (for trekking permits), your travel insurance, airline tickets and luggage tags. Visas can be obtained upon arrival at Kathmandu. For details information about the required official papers don't be hesitate to ask us. 

Case of flight delay

Flight by plane and helicopter are might be cancellations or delay cause of bad weather in remote areas. Some other times, operational complication may occur which is more possible to happen in Everest Region- Kathmandu – Lukla – Kathmandu flight, Annapurna region- Pokhara – Jomsom – Pokhara flight, Dolpa, Simikot , Jumla region etc. As these flights have some problem with fixed schedule, it is also suggested to carry extra money for food and accommodations. Trekking in the remote areas, especially during unusual season, you’re advised to keep extra days to prepare with some delays and avoid frustrating result. In case of delay in flight previous to trek departure or at the end of the trek, you need to manage your accommodation and food costs by yourself. 

About your travel insurance

We request to all our valued clients to make and bring your complete travel insurance package. Your insurance must cover against medical, emergency evacuation, personal accident, trip cancellation, natural calamity, lost of gears, theft or damage your baggage etc. 

Electricity Crisis Problem in Nepal

It is difficult to told you that Nepal has an electricity problem because Nepal is 2nd richest country in water resource but it is true Nepal still facing the problem. It means there is electricity off for some hours in day and night time. Most of the hotels in Kathmandu, Pokhara and other cities are possible to have no battery backup. In that case Air condition may not work and, sometimes, TV and other electric utensils may not run. Some hotels have possible to run the TV and AC as well. But, only few of them are lies in this standard category.

So, be organized for this while you are traveling in Nepal.  For that situation, we suggested you to bring the flashlight with extra batteries. 

Clothing and Equipment for Traveling in Mountains of Nepal

Trekking in the Mountains require to arrangement of equipment as you have to find yourself comfortable at higher altitude of Mountains. The basic clothing items are listed here please notice that.

Personal Equipment

  • Down jacket or sweater.
  • Wind/Water proof jacket (opt).
  • Down vest and/or jacket (opt)
  • Gloves (2 pairs).
  • Sun hat or scarf.
  • Sunglasses with UV protection.
  • T-shirts minimum 2.
  • Underwear (3).
  • Hiking shorts (2).
  • Lightweight cotton long pants.
  • Light & Expedition weight thermal bottoms.
  • Wool pants.
  • Waterproof pants.
  • Thin, lightweight internal socks (4).
  • Thick, warm wool Trekking/Hiking socks (4).
  • Hiking boots with extra laces.
  • Camp shoes or sandals.

 Other Necessary Equipment

  • Sleeping bag at least rated to zero degrees F.
  • Head light with extra bulbs and batteries.
  • Basic First Aid Kit (Normal Medicine e.g. Sitamol, Diamox etc.)
  • Large plastic bags to keep dry inside items of trek bag.
  • Trekking Bag (approximately 2500 to 3000 cubic inches is OK).
  • Water bottles (2).
  • Toilet paper.
  • Small washable towel.

Can I buy/rent equipment in Kathmandu

Yes, you can do that but it is not actually required to spend large amount of your money to buy extra equipment and clothing earlier to your trip because most of the trekking equipment can be hired from Trekking shops within Kathmandu. Most of the gear is locally contrived. Some Chinese equipment are possible to be more expensive but qualitative. You can take Sleeping bag and down jacket easily on rent. Each item can be rented for less than USD 1 per day. You have to manage other items buying them yourself. Surely these items are more possible to be cheaper than those in your Country or hometown. We will display all the necessary equipment you need on the second day of your arrival. 

How to book my trip

First choose the trip which you want to do? Then contact us through mail or phone, email is more effective and clear as well, after getting your email or call we will process for your booking. To confirm your booking, we need 20% amount of your total amount the payment can be made throughout the Bank transfer, Credit card payment (Master/Visa Card) or through online money transfers also Western Unions, Money Gram or others. After we get the 20% amount your booking will be confirmed and you will get the official booking and payment receipt from us. The rest amount you can pay after arrival at our office or hotel.
